Indian citizens and their family members holding ordinary passports are now eligible for visa-on-arrival at all ports of entry in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), provided they meet certain conditions. This new update, shared by the Indian Embassy in UAE, simplifies travel for many Indian nationals who have visas or residence permits from select countries.
As per the latest announcement:
– Indian citizens with a valid visa, residence, or green card issued by the United States.
– Those with valid visas or residence permits issued by the European Union (EU) or the United Kingdom (UK).
– Additionally, passports must have a validity period of at least six months.
These eligible travellers have the option to choose between two visa types upon arrival in the UAE:
1. 14-day Visa-on-Arrival: This visa is initially granted for 14 days and can be extended for a similar period.
2. 60-day Visa-on-Arrival: Available for a non-extendable period of 60 days, this option requires payment of the prescribed fees in accordance with UAE regulations.
This move is aimed at streamlining travel for Indian citizens who hold visas or residence permits from major international regions, thus boosting tourism and business ties between the UAE and India. The visa-on-arrival facility provides flexibility and convenience for frequent travelers, ensuring a smoother entry process and longer stay options.With the UAE being one of the top destinations for Indian travellers, this initiative is expected to strengthen bilateral tourism and economic ties further. UAE, with its major airline carriers, Emirates and Etihad, also serves as a crucial transit hub between India and the rest of the world. By expanding VoA eligibility, the UAE aims to facilitate smoother entry for more Indian travellers and attract those on transit flights to consider stopovers in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or other emirates.
